Rotterdam
We decide to leave for the port of Rotterdam. Fortunately peter gave us the platform numbers, because it immmense. Cloudy with sunny and windy.
The port of Rotterdam is a hub of international goods flows, while at the same time an industrial complex of global stature. The port is the gateway to a European market of more than 500 million consumers. With an annual throughput of more than 400 million tonnes of goods, Rotterdam is by far the biggest seaport in Europe. |

More than 500 scheduled liner services connect Rotterdam with over 1,000 ports worldwide. Many of the global container liner services only call at a limited number of European ports. Rotterdam is one of these, often as first and/or last port of call in Europe.

From the port, feeder ships carry the containers by sea to smaller ports. The port of Rotterdam is directly situated on the North Sea. The very largest ocean-going vessels can access the port unrestricted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The port has a depth of 75 feet. |

The port and industrial area stretches over a length of 40 kilometres and covers 10,000 hectares.
In the port itself, the Nieuwe Waterweg (New Waterway), the Calandkanaal and the Hartelkanaal have been dug. The Calandkanaal is suitable for the largest deep-draught ships and offers access to the Maasvlakte and the Europoort area. The Nieuwe Waterweg leads to the other port areas, which are located more inland.

Muiderslot
Part of the group decided to photograph the tulips. But in place they have not been allowed to fly and photograph. They found the castle Muiderslot.
Muiderslot is an imposing medieval castle still in excellent condition, located in Muiden (the Netherlands) in the province of North Holland became the National Museum (Rijksmuseum).
The castle is square. Round towers are found at every corner of the building. Within the enclosure is a large building with gables.
The date of construction of Muidersluit is uncertain. It appears to have been built about 1280 by Floris V, but it may already existed at that time and bought by the Count. |
