Festival

At the Festival of Dieppe we are especially present in the windgarden. But as we are always Kite flyers, so Carnet de Vol took part in all the strong moments of this festival : the great parade, The Challenge for the Earth, the exhibition of old kites and the contest “Fauna and Flora”.

Sunday, the opening parade with all delegations is a real gathering of culture, of color. Behind the waders of the Varcachoux troupe, the maori give the Dieppois shivers with their Hakas. (see page on Maori).

Like Michel says so well, who made his kite 'Défi pour la Terre' (challenge for the Earth) in live under the tent of the French delegation, we all are concerned with evolution of our planet. Very many delegations took part.

Emmanuel Petit was present on the Dieppe's lawn in his capacity as ambassador of the 'challenge for the Earth' (Foundation Nicolas Hulot). I am not very fan of foot (no one is perfect!) and the day before I heard that Emmanuel was not the cousin of Ludo. I offered my small green Korean Kite to him, with the symbol of hand in the center. I explained to him how it could fly. He should give it to his daughter, but like she is only 2 years old, for the moment it will be used as decoration. He also discovered with interest the tradtions of the various kites, like the utility of the sound arc (Ek) on the Cambodian kite.

Very fine exhibition of old kites, replicas or originals, which Christian Kolz, Axel Koutros and Frits Sauvé showed. Photos, old books, drawings came to complete it. Carnet de Vol take part by lending French panels who explain the History of some of these kites (Gibson - Target.). A great thank you to our foreign friends to have made us dream.

The theme of the contest “Stroll between Fauna and Flora” gathered a lot of participants. For the novice, Emmanuel Duba wined a prize. We presented a “feathers and paper bird ”. (For those which remember the song of Alexandra written for the festival of Dieppe).

It is Joel who gains the first price with his kite in guinea-fowl feathers and bamboo (on the right). It is merited ! Joel will leave to the Weifang ite Festival in China. The windgardeners are also highly skilled kite flyers. The second price is for a very beautiful Rokkaku, but the only drawback :it's a Rokkaku. There was yet very beautiful and original kite, like this Mushroom or the splendid kite of the Mexican Jose Sainz.

Fortunately the “Coup de Coeur ” of the CVCF rewarded the Mexican (1st prize) and Bruno obtained the 2nd prize with his dragonfly with the translucent wings

Small wind for this night flight. Crowd is present, but no much kite, or then those which were there were not enough in the light. We will not regret the night flight of the festival 2004, under the rain… but then …
