One of the new things presented at the festival is the "Strandbeest" of Theo Jansen. Jansen is a Dutch artist who creates kinetic sculpture that moves and lives on its own. Since 1990, he creates new forms of life, with only one construction material: plastic tubes. His works are characterized by particular kinds of giant insects, which he called "Strandbeest" moving with the wind and are almost independent.

Although the wind is present at Notre Dame de Monts, for "animarae adulari", one of the latest creations from Jansen, it’s a little hard to evolve only because the sand is relatively sticky and heavy. This is his assistant, Lionel Roy, who is helping "Adulari" to move to the delight of all.
